The Highlighter Journal
The Highlighter is a quarterly journal published by the SCBWI Mid-Atlantic Region (DC & Virginia). It aspires to serve as a resource that is supportive, useful, inspiring, and connecting.
As members of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), I was required to create an account in which I added my illustration portfolio so that other members could see my style of work. One of them being: Water Nymph.
I love drawing mythical creatures! Especially, because even if it has been drawn a thousand times, there is no wrong way of drawing them - my imagination can go crazy. I drew her face by mirroring my facial expressions. I like to keep the background empty, because I wanted the focus to stay on her.
Finally, the best thing about this project was the fact that I drew her without even thinking that it could ever be published on the Mood Board of the Highlighter's Journal.
Guess sometimes some of the best artworks are those that you create without a purpose in mind.
